Noah - 3993 BC to 3043 BC

Jakarta (Dreamland Library) - Noah (Hebrews: נוֹחַ, Nūḥ; Tiberias: נֹחַ; Arabic: نوح) (around 3993-3043 BC) was an apostle told in the Torah, the Bible, and the Koran. Noah was made a prophet around 3650 BC. It is estimated that he lived in the Southern region of modern Iraq. His name is mentioned 58 times in 48 verses in 9 New Translation Bible books and 43 times in the Koran.

According to the Qur'an, he has 4 sons namely Kanʻān, Sem, Ham, and Yafet. But the Bible only records, he had 3 sons Sem, Ham and Japheth. The book of Genesis records, in his day a flood flooded the whole earth; only he and his family (his wife, three children, and third son-in-law) and the animals in Noah's ark that survived the flood. After the flood subsided, Noah's family repopulated the earth again.

Noah according to Islam

Etymology
Suyuti said that the name Noah did not come from Arabic, but from the Syriac language which means "grateful" or "always grateful". The judge said it was called Noah because he cried a lot, his real name was Abdul Ghafar (Servant of the Most Forgiving).

Whereas according to the story from the Torah, Noah's original name was Nahm which later became the name of a city, Noah's grave was in the village of al Waqsyah that was built in Nahm area. [6]

Noah got the title from Allah as the Prophet Allah and Abdussyakur which means "servant (Allah) who is grateful."

Genealogy
In Islam, Noah is the third prophet after Adam, and Idris. He is the ninth descendant of Adam. His father was Lamik (Lamaka) bin Metusyalih | Mutawasylah (Matu Salij) bin Idris bin Yarid bin Mahlail bin Qainan bin Anusyi bin Syits bin Adam. Between Adam and Noah there was a span of 10 generations and over a period of approximately 1642 years.

Noah lived for 950 years. He has a wife named Wafilah, [8] while some sources say Noah's wife was Namaha binti Tzila or Amzurah bint Barakil [9] and had four sons, namely Kanʻān, Yafith, Sham and Ham.

Biography
Noah was the first Apostle of Allah sent to this earth, while Adam, Syith and Idris who were sent earlier were only prophets, not as Apostles because they did not have a people or people.

It was from Ibn Kathir that Noah was sent to the Bani Rasib. He was born 126 years after the death of the Prophet Adam, while according to the People of the Book he was born 140 years after the death of the Prophet Adam. He was the first messenger sent to mankind. The people he called were known as Banu Rasib.

From Ibn Abi Hatim: Abu Umamah heard someone say to the Prophet "O Messenger of God, is Adam a Prophet?" The Prophet answered "Yes". The person asked again: "How long is it between Noah?" then the Prophet Answered "ten generations"

Ibn Abbas told that the prophet Noah was sent to his people when he was 480 years old. His prophetic period is 120 years and preaching for 5 centuries. He crossed the flood when he was 600 years old, and then after the flood he lived for 350 years.

Ibn Abi Hatim from Urwah bin Al Zubayr that Wadd, Suwa, Yaghuth, Ya'uq and Nasr were the children of the prophet Adam. Wadd is the oldest of them and the most pious among them.

Ibn Abbas relates that when the Prophet Jesus revived Ham bin Noah, he asked him why his hair turned gray, he said he died at a young age because of his fear of flooding. He said that the length of Noah's boat was 1200 Kubit and the width was 600 Kubit and had 3 layers.

Migration from Suq Thamanim to Babylon
Ibn Thabari said after the ship anchored in the mountains of Ararat, he then built a city in the area of Ararat (Qarda) in an area that included Mesopotamia and named the city Themanon (City of Eighty) because the city was built by believers, numbering 80 people. Now the place is known as Suq Thamanin.

Ibn Abbas then related that Noah built the city of Suq Thamanin and all the descendants of Qayin were destroyed. According to Al-Harith from Ibn Sad from Hisham bin Muhammad from his father from Abu Salih from Ibn Abbas said "when Suq Thamanin became full of Noah's descendants they moved to Babylon and built the city".

Abd al Ghafar recounted when the ship anchored at Judi hill on Ashura day.

Noah's prayer to his descendants
Ibn Ishaq said that Noah prayed for his three sons. Noah prayed that Sam's descendants would become prophets and apostles. Noah prayed for the descendants of Yafith to be kings, while from the descendants of Ham he prayed to be servants of the descendants of Yafith and Sam.
When Noah turned old, he prayed that the descendants of Gomer and Cush would become kings, because they both served his grandfather when he was old.

Ibn Abbas relates that the descendants of Sam reduced the white nation, Yafith sent down the red and brown nation, while the ham reduced the black and a small portion.

Children :

Kanʻān bin Noah
Of the four sons of Noah, only three survived the flood, because they obeyed and followed the teachings that his father brought. Another oldest son, Kan'an, was drowned. Noah felt sad because his son did not want to follow his teachings. Meanwhile according to Hasan al-Basri argued that Kan'an was a stepchild of Noah, the son of his lawless wife.

Yafith bin Noah
Ibn Tabari mentions Yafith's wife named Arbasisah bint Marazil ibn Al Darmasil bin ibn Mehujael ibn Akhnukh ibn Qayin ibn Adam and from whom Yafith brought down 7 sons and 1 daughter, namely Gomer, Marihu, Wa'il, Hawwan, Tubal, Hawshil and Thiras. The daughter of Yafith is Shabokah.

Ibn Thabari mentions Ham's wife named Nahlab bint Marib bin Al Darmasil bin bin Mehujael bin Akhnukh bin Qayin bin Adam and from whom Ham sent down 4 sons, namely Kush, Put, Canaan and Qibthy or Misraim.

According to Ibn Ishaq it is unknown whether Arama was one mother or from a different mother from Sam's other children. Sam lived in Mecca and from his descendants Arpaksyad sent prophets and apostles. Then from his descend the Arabs and the ancient Egyptians. The descendants of Yafith became kings of non-Arab areas such as Turkey, Khazar and Persia whose last king was Yazdajird bin Shahriyar bin Abrawiz who was still a descendant of Gomer bin Yafith bin Noah.

Sam's descendants lived in Majdal at the center of the earth, which was in Satidama (an area north of Iraq or eastern Anatolia), between Yemen and Syria. God gave them books and prophethood and gave them brown and white skin tones.

The nation berkembangd developed in a valley called Al-Shihr (the southern part of Arabia facing the Indian Ocean) and was destroyed in a valley called the Mughith Valley.

Then Mahrah settled in the valley of Al-Shihr. Ubayl developed in the Yasthrib region, Amalek developed in Sana before it was called Sana. Some of the Amalek descendants then went to Yastrib and drove the Ubayl people, who later Jubayl flourished in the Juhfah region, but the floods destroyed them so they called the area Al-Juhfah (the sweeping place).

Thamud settled in the Hijr and its surroundings and was destroyed there. Tasm and Judays settled in Yamamah and were later destroyed, when Umaym entered the Al Abar region (Wabar, a place in Yemen) and was destroyed there. Around Yamamah and Al Shihr no one traveled there because the territory was controlled by Jin. The area was known as Ubar because it came from the name Abar bin Umaym.

The descendants of Joktan bin Eber entered Yemen and later named him Yemen which means South. Some people from Kan'an entered Syria whose name was Al-Sha'm and hence Syria's territory was known as Sham.

It is told from Damrah bin Rabiah from Ibn Ata from his father that Ham descended descendants of black skin and curly hair. Their hair is thin. Yafith descended descendants with flat faces and small eyes or slits, while Sam lowered offspring with handsome faces and beautiful hair.

Noah's Ark
Decades of Noah preached, but the people did not want to follow his teachings and still worship idols. In fact, they often persecuted Noah and his followers. For this reason, Noah asked God to bring down their punishment. Then in the story it is said that God granted Noah's request. So that the believers of Noah would avoid the doom, God commanded Noah to make the ark. Together with his followers, Noah collected nails and felled large logs from trees he had planted for 40 years. Through His revelation, God guided Noah to make a strong ark to deal with typhoons and floods. Noah's Ark is considered to be the first sea transportation tool in the world.

According to the Qur'an, Noah's ark had landed on Mount Judi and there were many differences of opinion regarding the Hill of Gambling, both from scholars and archaeological findings. There is an opinion [who?] That shows a mountain in the Kurdish region or precisely in the southern part of Armenia, there is another opinion from Wyatt Archeological Research, the hill is located in the Turkistan climate of Butan, Northeast of the island which the Arabs call the Jazirah Ibn Umar (Tafsir al-Mishbah).

In the Bible call it stranded on Mount Ararat Turkey. Archaeologists Cornuke and the team say that Noah's ark was allegedly found in Iran. The location is not as described in the book of Genesis; This ark has traveled eastward to Mesopotamia. Cornuke and the team think that Mount Ararat is most likely just a diversion. "The Bible gives instructions here but this is not referring to Turkey, but directed directly to Iran."

Based on photographs produced from Mount Ararat, a very large boat is estimated to have an area of 7,546 feet with a length of 500 feet, width of 83 feet and height of 50 feet and there are still three more levels on it.
  • The first level is placed by wild and tamed animals
  • The second level is placed by humans
  • Third level birds
Noah according to Christianity
Noah was a son of Lamech, who was born when Lamech was 182 years old (Gen. 5:28; 1Ch 1: 4)). He was born 1,056 years after Adam. [11] Of the 10 generations after Adam, Noah was the third person to have the longest life, reaching 950 years (Gen. 9: 28-29). His name is also recorded in the genealogy of Jesus at Luke 3:36.

Noah was described as being righteous among other people who lived in his day. Genesis 6: 8 records, "But Noah found grace in God's eyes". At that time, human life was so full of sin that God decided to pass judgment by saying "I will destroy them together with the earth" [12]. However, God does not destroy everything. He ordered Noah to build a large ark to save some of His creatures.

After the ark was finished, the Book of Genesis described that water soaked the earth for 150 days and after that the water began to recede. Noah waited until the earth was completely dry before opening the ark's door. Noah then went out with his family and all the animals in the ark.

After Noah was saved, God entered into a covenant with Noah and blessed him [13]. This is the first agreement that is known and is universal because it covers all of humanity. Later, God also made a covenant with Abraham, but the covenant was considered to be more specific.

Etymology
Noah's name comes from the Hebrew נֹחַ, נוֹחַ (Nōăḥ), which means "perched", "appeased", "stopped", or "rested" (2Ki 2:15; Lk 5: 5; De 5:14). The meaning of Noah's name based on the origin of the word is "sabbath", "rest", and "consolation".

Family
The Bible only records that Noah had three children, Shem, Ham and Japheth, who were born after Noah was 500 years old [14], before the flood took place. When Sem was 100 years old, two years after the flood, he was blessed with Arpakhsad [15]. Therefore Sem was only 98 when the flood came. Ham is said to be the youngest [16].

The name of Noah's wife is not mentioned in the Bible, according to the Book of Jubilees (included in the canon of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church) her name is Emzara. The writings of Midras give it the name Naamah, which is also mentioned in the Book of Yasar.
