East Aceh, Aceh is now mentioned between 840 and 1292. [citation needed] Perlak or Peureulak is famous as a producing area for perlak wood, a very good type of wood for shipbuilding, and hence this area is known as Negeri Perlak.
Its natural products and strategic position made Perlak develop as an advanced trading port in the 8th century, visited by ships originating from Arab and Persian.
This led to the development of the Islamic community in this area, especially as a result of intermarriage between Muslim merchants and local women.
