Denpasar (Dreamland Library) - This dance is a mystical dance originating from Yogyakarta. This dance is accompanied by Javanese gamelan.
This dance is played by four female dancers. Slow and graceful hand movements are the hallmark of the Serimpi dance. The srimpi sangopati dance by Pakubuwono IX is actually a dance by Pakubuwono IV who ruled the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace in 1788-1820 under the name Srimpi sangopati the word sangapati itself comes from the word "the apathy" a designation for the future king candidate. This dance symbolizes the provision for death (from the meaning of Sangopati) intended for the Dutch.
